Ամեն ինչ սկսվեց նրանից, որ ամերիկյան հանրահայտ կոմիկս արվեստագետ Դեն Փանոսյանի ֆեյսբուքի էջում վերջերս հետաքրքրաշարժ լուսանկարներ գտանք: Այնտեղ Դենը պատկերված էր մի մեծ "երջանիկ" միջոցառման ժամանակ, որ կոչվում էր Drink and Draw (հետո հայտնաբերեցինք, որ 2005 թ. սկզբին Դեն Փանոսյանը երկու գործընկերների հետ միասին սկիզբ են դրել Drink and Draw-ին, այժմ Drink and Draw-ի բաժանմունքներն ամենուրեք են, թե ԱՄՆ-ում եւ թե նրա սահմաններից դուրս):
 

Անվանումն արդեն հուշում էր բովանդակության մասին: Նայեցինք նկարներն ու մտածեցինք, որ սա լավ առիթ է կոմիկսի սիրահարների համար շփվելու եւ ընկերական մթնոլորտում ինչ-որ թեմայի շուրջ պատմություն ստեղծելու:

Ասածը արած է, կամ՝ երբեմն մեր խոսքն էլ է գործ: Կիրակի փետրվարի 19-ին Երեւանի “Քլաբորատորիայում” հավաքվեցին մի խումբ մարդիկ, ծանոթացան իրաի հետ, զինվեցին գարեջրերով, գրիչ ու թղթով ու սկսեցին դրինք՝ն՝դրո անել:
 

Թեման նախօրոք որոշված չէր, մեկը նկարեց բուլդոզեր, մյուսը այն միանգամից կապեց այս օրերին բոլորիս հուզող Մաշտոցի այգում իրենց առեւտրային բուդկաները տեղադրող սեւ ուժերի ու հասարակ մարդկանց առճակատման հետ: Հերթով նկարում էինք, իսկ ով չէր նկարում խորհուրդներ էր տալիս սյուժեի վերաբերյալ:

Ընթացքը բավական աշխույժ էր. եւ սրճարանի աշխատողներին եւ հաճախորդներին հետաքրքրեց, թե ինչ է կատարվում: Այսպես մենք ծանոթացանք հիպերռեալիստ Պետո Պողոսյանի հետ, որը ակնթարթորեն ֆիքսեց մի քանի աշխատանքային պահ՝ այ այսպես.

First drink’n’draw happened!

Everything started recently. It started when we saw something in a facebook timeline of the famous American comics artist Dan Panosian. He was tagged on photos of a very happy event called Drink and Draw. (Later on we found out that it was him that together with a couple of colleagues started Drink and Draw in early 2005s. It’s getting so popular that now there are Drink and Draw Chapters throughout US and all over the world).

 The name by itself was already telling a story. We were studying pictures of the event and trying to guess whether this format would be a good chance to unite comics admirers, to set grounds for communication and to develop a story around some theme.

No sooner said than done, or Our Words Are Actions (as stated the ubiquitous ad of one political party). On Sunday February 19th, Claboratoria Cafe in Yerevan hosted a group of people. Not all of them knew each other. They got acquainted, then grabbed beer mugs, markers and paper and started to drink and draw.

No topic was decided in advance. Someone drew a bulldozer, another one bridged it with the ongoing struggle of responsible citizens with dark forces who were placing trade pavilions in Mashtots Park area. They were drawing taking turns, some of them opted not to draw but to advise with the story plot.

The process was very active and engaging, everyone in the cafe was interested what it was all about. This is how we met with the hyperrealist Peto Poghosyan who instantly sketched a couple of working moments.

Participants agreed to meet next week.
